VUB-JOOUST Collaboration Enters a New Phase of Research Excellence

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), welcomed a goodwill delegation from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium headed by the VUB rector.  The delegation was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emily A. Akuno. VUB is the lead partner in the JOOUST-VLIR-Inter University Collaboration (IUC) program.The purpose of the visit is to identify and strengthen opportunities for partnership and collaboration in teaching and research. Key priority areas envisaged are in natural resource management, agri-food systems, health systems, ICT for teaching and learning, and climate.  The arrival of the delegation is a testament to the collaboration that has started to advance research infrastructure at JOOUST. Areas that have already received significant investment from the IUC include Modern research equipment, Data Centre, a Multidisciplinary computer Lab, and innovation center, a Multimedia Studio for e-Learning Content Creation, and Nursing Skills Lab and the Local Area Network. JOOUST is currently installing a Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, courtesy of the Sonic Foundation through the IUC.
