JOOUST Participates in the Third MAINSTREAM Mobility Programme at Arsi University, Ethiopia
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), represented by Prof. Christopher Gor and Dr. Mary Orinda, participated in the third MAINSTREAM mobility programme hosted by Arsi University in Ethiopia from 3rd to 11th October 2026.
The workshop brought together representatives from partner institutions, including Arsi University (Ethiopia), Mountains of the Moon University (Uganda), Kara University (Togo), the University of the Free State (South Africa), USSEIN (Senegal), and Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany). The mobility provided an important platform for reviewing the implementation progress, strengthening academic collaboration, promoting knowledge exchange, and enhancing partnerships among participating institutions.
As part of the programme, JOOUST attracted 84 applications from 21 countries, representing 44 universities across Africa. The selection process culminated in the selection of 32 Master's students and 15 PhD students, marking a significant milestone in promoting postgraduate training and academic mobility under the MAINSTREAM initiative.
The programme provided opportunities for participants to share experiences, exchange best practices, and strengthen institutional cooperation in line with the objectives of the MAINSTREAM project. It also contributed to advancing international academic mobility, capacity building, and collaborative approaches to addressing agricultural and sustainable development challenges.
JOOUST's participation reaffirms the University's commitment to strengthening regional and international partnerships, promoting academic excellence, and advancing sustainable development through collaborative education and research.
