JOOUST Participates in High-Level Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Workshop in South Africa
JOOUST is pleased to share that three of our senior officers—Prof. Christopher Gor (Project PI), Dr. Mary Orinda (Dean, SAFS), and Mr. Samuel Ohanga (Project Manager)—successfully represented the University at the Second In-Person Workshop on the Selection of Cohort 2 Scholarship Beneficiaries, which included an educational tour, staff mobility activities, and joint proposal-writing sessions. The workshop was hosted by the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
This strategic engagement formed part of the MAINSTREAM Project, an EU co-funded Intra-Africa Academic Mobility initiative aimed at enhancing academic exchange, strengthening institutional collaboration, and promoting capacity development across African universities.
The program began on Sunday, 23 November 2025, with the arrival of all partner institutions, and activities continued until Monday, 8 December 2025, at the UFS Bloemfontein Campus.
This year’s workshop brought together a diverse cohort of participants from Germany, Togo, Senegal, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya, fostering a vibrant environment for intercultural dialogue and collaborative learning.
JOOUST’s participation reinforced the University’s commitment to: Advancing internationalization and staff development, strengthening collaborative research and joint proposal development, expanding continental and global academic partnerships and contributing to innovation and shared solutions in higher education
Our representatives actively engaged in joint proposal-writing sessions, technical workshops, knowledge-exchange forums, and institutional visits alongside partner universities from across Africa and Europe.
We commend our delegation for their exemplary representation and look forward to the insights, networks, and collaborative opportunities they have brought back to enrich JOOUST’s academic and research landscape.
