Staff members from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), affiliated with the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA), recently participated in a two-day intensive training held in Kisumu.

The training covered a broad spectrum of topics, including organizational culture and behaviour change, occupational health and safety, staff disciplinary procedures, welfare matters, time management, critical thinking, public relations, and customer care skills, among others.

The objective of the workshop was to equip staff with essential professional and personal development skills to support their career growth, improve their interactions with internal and external stakeholders, and effectively prepare them for life after retirement.

While officially opening the workshop, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emilly Akuno, underscored the importance of efficiency and professionalism, urging participants to embrace a work ethic that not only brings them personal fulfilment but also contributes to making JOOUST a welcoming and productive environment for students, colleagues, and partners.

The event was also graced by Prof. Aggrey Thuo, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Planning, Administration and Finance, and was officially closed by Prof. Elijah Ateka, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs. Also in attendance was Dr. Immerqulate Ayodo, Registrar, Planning and Administration and the Acting Chief Finance Officer, CPA Maureen Bichii.
