Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology’s Blue Economy Hub today marked a key milestone with the official handing over of the new set of equipment for the Health Diagnostics Laboratory, funded by the Sonic Foundation, Australia at the tune of A$400,000. Prof. John Paul Bogers of the University of Antwerp, Belgium, presented the Equipment to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emily Achieng’ Akuno in a ceremony also attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof. Elijah Ateka, the Local VLIR JOOUST-IUC Program coordinator Prof. Dennis Ochuodho and the local Team Leader of the Health Sub-Project, Dr. Jane Owenga. 
The establishment of this laboratory underscores the University’s commitment towards advancing scientific research, innovation and sustainable development in the region. The Diagnostics laboratory will support molecular research and disease diagnostics, working in close collaboration with the university of Antwerp.  The lab will act as a catalyst for the planned Medical School at JOOUST.
