In essence, the call is not for a eulogy or a biography, but for a rigorous academic project that elevates
"The Raila Phenomenon" into a foundational case study for 21st-century African political, cultural,
and historical studies. It seeks to answer the implicit question his career posed: What does the life of
Raila Odinga reveal about the unfinished project of democracy and nationhood in Kenya and Africa
at large?
