JOOUST Welcomes Acholi Delegation as part of supporting Regional Integration

Prof. Elijah Ateka, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academics, Student Affairs, and Research (ASAR), welcomed a delegation from the Acholi clan in Uganda, led by retired High Court Judge Hon. Justice Ralph. The delegation also included Dr. Olara Otunnu, former Foreign Minister and Uganda’s ex-Ambassador to the UN. The visit was part of the "Rocho Pacho" initiative, aimed at promoting economic growth within the Acholi community. During the visit, Prof. Ateka emphasized the university’s role in supporting regional integration through its open-door policy, which has facilitated stronger collaborations for community welfare. Dr. Richard Magwanga, Head of Extension, presented the sericulture value chain and other research initiatives at the University, while Prof. Ogone, Director of Corporate Communication and Marketing, underscored the importance of the visit. He also noted that, despite living in different countries, the Acholi and Luo peoples share deep historical and cultural ties.
