Appointment of Dr. Michael Ngala as our new Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Ngala as our new Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).

Dr. Ngala holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and a Bachelor of Education from Moi University. He is also a Commonwealth Scholar, pursuing Masters in Online Teaching from the Open University of United Kingdom.

Dr. Ngala brings over 17 years of comprehensive experience in academia, management, leadership, and research to his new position. His distinguished career includes serving as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business and Economics at The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), where he also held the position of Director of the Institute of Open, Distance & e-Learning (IODeL). Previously, he served as Dean of the School of Leadership and Management at the Management University of Africa, Director of Quality Assurance at The Co-operative University of Kenya, and worked in the Registrar's Academic Affairs Office at CUK dealing with admissions, examinations, and related academic matters. He also gained valuable experience as a Training Manager at the Kenya Institute of Management.

Dr. Ngala's professional expertise encompasses strategic planning and implementation, academic administration including admissions and examinations, policy formulation and governance, capacity building particularly in the cooperative sector, training curriculum development, quantitative research methods, quality assurance in higher education, and open, distance, and e-learning systems. He has been instrumental in facilitating the development and implementation of strategic plans and policies for over 30 institutions both locally and internationally.

His professional achievements include maintaining an extensive publication record in peer-reviewed journals and providing active consultancy services for cooperatives, government agencies, and development partners. Dr. Ngala has made significant contributions to policy formulation in the cooperative sector and continues to be involved in training and capacity building initiatives.

Dr. Ngala is an active professional member of both the Kenya Institute of Management and the Kenya Society of Professional Co-operators, reflecting his commitment to professional development and excellence in his field.

As Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs at JOOUST, Dr. Ngala will oversee critical functions including academic administration, student services, and institutional quality assurance, bringing his wealth of experience to support the university's academic excellence and student success. His extensive background in academic administration, strategic planning, and quality assurance positions him well to enhance JOOUST's academic programs and student support services.
