JOOUST at the IMPACT-HE Consortium Meeting in Ethiopia

JOOUST proudly participated in the IMPACT-HE Project consortium meeting held at Jimma University, Ethiopia, from 23rd to 25th September 2025. The meeting, coordinated by OBREAL, brought together Ministries in charge of higher education as well as Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Associations - JOOUST, JKUAT, Moi, ANIE, Jimma, Hawassa, Haramaya,  & AASTU and European partners - MSM, UCM & HSWT from Kenya and Ethiopia, that included associated partners (DAAD, EDUFI and VLIR-UOS) to share key findings from mapping and analysis on managing higher education cooperation and funding. These insights will shape capacity-building programs for international office staff and project managers across the seven participating African universities.

The IMPACT-HE Project is all about empowering the selected African universities to become strong local development agents driving their own agendas and contributing to sustainable development. Through training programs, tools, and resources, the project aims at strengthening institutional capacity to make greater societal impact from development cooperation funds.

It also promotes synergies across international projects and investments, helping African Universities trace cumulative impacts and build regional as well as international networks. By fostering partnerships between African and EU universities, IMPACT-HE Project creates opportunities for reciprocal learning, knowledge exchange, and collaborative research toward shared development goals.

With its focus on data-driven decision-making, policy engagement, and opportunities for replication and scale-up across other African universities, IMPACT-HE Project is setting the stage for a stronger, more coordinated management of international higher education cooperation funds. The project is co-founded by the European Union.
