The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) Disability Advocacy Club recently conducted a heartwarming outreach visit to St. Martins Mumias Special School for the Hearing Impaired in Mumias, Kakamega County. The initiative, which aligns with the university’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, saw 62 club members accompanied by various staff members, led by their patron, Prof. Charles Omoke.

During the visit, the JOOUST team actively participated in a series of engaging and impactful activities with the children. These included cleaning the school compound, washing clothes and essential equipment, cooking meals, and sharing joyous moments through games and interactions. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the students and staff to connect with the children, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

In addition to their hands-on activities, the club members made a significant donation of foodstuffs and other essential supplies, aimed at improving the well-being of the children at the institution. This generous contribution was made possible through the collective support of the university management, staff, and students, further showcasing JOOUST’s unwavering dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities.

Through this initiative, JOOUST continues to champion inclusivity, advocacy, and empowerment for persons with disabilities. The visit not only provided much-needed assistance but also reinforced the importance of empathy, service, and social responsibility among students and faculty.
