We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Dr. Michael Ngala as the new Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs for Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST).
Dr. Ngala holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, Master of Business Administration from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and Bachelor of Education from Moi University. He is a Commonwealth Scholar for a Masters in Online Teaching from the Open University of United Kingdom.
Dr. Ngala has over 17 years of research, management, leadership, and academic experience, which he brings to his new position. His distinguished career includes serving as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business and Economics at The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) and also Director of the Institute of Open, Distance & e-Learning (IODeL). He previously served as the Dean of School of Leadership and Management at the Management University of Africa; Director - Quality Assurance at The Co-operative University of Kenya; and worked in the Registrar Academic Affairs’ Office at CUK responsible for admissions, exams, and other academic matters. He also gained experience serving as a Training Manager at the Kenya Institute of Management.
Dr. Ngala's technical expertise includes strategic planning and implementation, academic management including admissions and examinations, policy development and governance, capacity building particularly in the cooperative sector, training curriculum design, quantitative in research methodologies, quality assurance in higher education, and open, distance, and electronic-learning systems. Dr. Ngala has been instrumental in facilitating the development and execution of strategic plans and policies for over 30 institutions locally and internationally.
Some of his professional qualifications include a publication record in refereed journals and providing consultancy services to cooperatives, government departments, and development agencies. Dr. Ngala made a significant contribution to the development of policies in the cooperative sector and continues to be involved with training and capacity building initiatives.
Dr. Ngala is a practicing member of the Kenya Institute of Management and Kenya Society of Professional Co-operators, proving his commitment to professional development and excellence in practice.
As Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs at JOOUST, Dr. Ngala will oversee critical functions like academic administration, student services, and institutional quality assurance, drawing upon his extensive experience to develop the university's academic excellence and students' success. With his extensive experience in academic administration, strategic planning, and quality assurance, he is strategically positioned to enhance JOOUST's academic programs and student support services.
