A New Dawn for Anastasia Atabo: From Despair to University Hope

For Anastasia Atabo, a bright young woman from Turkana County, the dream of attaining a university education once seemed out of reach. Despite her hard work and determination, financial constraints nearly shattered her aspirations. Atabo had been placed at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) after scoring a B- in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. However, she could not enroll due to a lack of school fees.

Her story, one of resilience and perseverance, took a turn for the better after the Legio Maria Church learned of her plight through the media. Moved by her circumstances, the church stepped forward to sponsor her university education, ensuring that financial hardship would no longer stand in the way of her ambitions.

Atabo has every reason to smile as she takes her first steps towards a brighter future. Accompanied by her sponsors, she has officially arrived at JOOUST to begin her admission process.
