USAID Boresha Jamii Joins CS Health in Strengthening Kakamega County Healthcare Services

As a health partner in Kakamega County, USAID Boresha Jamii represented by the Chief of Party Dr.Solomon Orero and the Deputy Chief of party Dr. Maureen Mabiria, joined the CS Health Dr. Deborah Mlongo Barasa and the Kakamega County Senior Health Management Team led by the CEC Health Peninah Mukabane and KEMSA in a brief meeting at Golf Hotel, Kakamega.
The discussions focused on improving health outcomes in the county, including ensuring a steady supply of essential commodities like Carbetocin, which the county plans to procure from KEMSA
A key highlight was the visit to The Kakamega County General Teaching and Referral Hospital’s Newborn Unit, Maternity ward, Antenatal Care Ward (ANC) and Postnatal Care (PNC) ward. While identifying gaps and areas for support, the CS shared light moments with babies and mothers in the ANC and PNC ward, encouraging them to register for and utilize SHA.
The team also visited Kakamega County Level VI Hospital, where Phase 1 of construction is nearing completion, to assess progress in plan for its operationalization.
In her address, the CS Dr. Mlongo urged residents of Kakamega County and the nation at large to register for SHA.
Additionally, the CS called on counties to prioritize self-reliance and sustainability in healthcare service delivery.
